EU Taxonomy – Sustainable finance strategy

What is the EU taxonomy regulation and what changes does it imply for companies?

The sustainable economic activities taxonomy regulation was launched in 2020. Since then, it is one of the pillars of the European Union’s Sustainable Finance Plan, which focuses on the classification of economic activities that contribute to the climate and environmental objectives set by the EU itself.

Objectives:

✅ To be the single standard that directs all financial activities.

✅ To meet the EU’s climate and environmental objectives.

Functioning:

✳️ As a new market model, transparent and integral.

✳️ Directs investors to companies that meet European sustainability targets.

Implementation:

Companies will have to carry out activities that are classified as sustainable based on three fundamentals:

🟢 They must contribute to at least one environmental objective.

🟢 They must not harm any environmental objective.

🟢 They must guarantee ethical and labour values
